Good Morning Good People of St. Charles!
HERE is your midFebruary bulletin!
In it, find out more about:
~Women's Council Dessert in the Desert and Lenten Morning of Reflection
~Catholic Services Appeal that is this weekend (video is
here)
~LENT
and more!
ALSO. MEN: This coming Thursday is a special Catholic Watchmen event: Fr. Luke Marquard will join us for a special Mass at St. Joseph's altar and confessions will be available as well. Kick off your Lent right with this great opportunity with other men from our parish! Food and beverage will hopefully resume in March.
Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
p.s. a couple notes on some of the art in this bulletin. There is a work called Ash Wednesday by Karl Spitzweg (1860) which depicts a sad Mardi Gras carnaval clown in jail, maybe reflecting on some not great moments, ready for a good hard Lent, illuminated by dawn's hopeful light. There's hope for all! even mardi gras fools.
There's also the earliest known work by the great Michelangelo: The Torment of St. Anthony, painted when he was 12 or 13 (!) It kinda looks like a subject a 12 year old boy would want to paint.
